ZCA Foundation Benefit Auction

Yan SunYan Sun is an amazingly versatile artist who moves between realism and impressionism with ease.  He has produced a wide range of works, including outstanding paintings of Native Americans, colorful harbor scenes, and the beauty of the  ballet.  Mr. Sun is a Professor of Art at Muskingum University and also serves as the director of the University's art gallery.  He received an MA from Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts in China and subsequently earned his MFA at Texas A & M University.

Last year The Zanesville Concert Association presented a performance of Swan Lake performed by the Russian National Ballet.  Yan Sun was granted special permission by the ballet company and the ZCA to photograph and sketch the ballet company during rehearsals and the performance.  Yan Sun has produced several paintings based upon this performance.

In appreciation of this opportunity, Yan has graciously donated the painting shown in the photo to the Zanesville Concert Association Foundation for a silent benefit auction which will be ongoing until intermission of the final concert of the ZCA season on April 11, 2010 featuring the Rastrelli Cello Quartet.  The painting which is aptly titled Swan Lakecaptures the lyric dynamism of the performance and is 24”x 30” in size.  ZCA  thanks Mike Nelson’s Frames, Flames, and More for donating a frame for the painting.  The reserve of $1000 has already been met.
